Deleting your data
Two ways out, both self-service: delete one child’s profile in a few seconds, or delete the whole account — no email to us, no waiting. This page says precisely what each one removes.
Last updated 7 August 2026.
Written by the people who build Keenling, by reading our own source code and describing what it actually does. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer. We would rather publish something accurate and plain now than something polished and vague later. If you spot a sentence that does not match what you experience, tell us at [email protected] and we will fix it.
Delete a child’s profile — right now, by yourself
Open Keenling and go to today’s mission. At the very bottom of the page, under the mission card, tap Remove. Confirm the prompt.
That is it. It happens immediately and it cannot be undone.
What removing a child deletes
Immediately and permanently, from our database:
- The child’s profile: first name, birth month, interests, time budget and focus areas.
- Every mission ever generated for that child — the concept, the words to say, the what-to-watch-for, at all three lengths.
- Every piece of feedback you gave on those missions: clicked, meh, not today.
- Every note you wrote about them.
- Every reroute and swap reason recorded against them.
- Every illustration ever drawn for those missions — the picture files are deleted from our storage provider first, before the missions that point at them go.
Nothing about that child is left in the app. Their missions vanish from your history and from your weekly reports, and no future mission is generated for them.
Deleting your whole account
This is now a button in the app. You do not have to ask us, and you do not have to wait.
Open Keenling, tap Account at the bottom of today’s mission, then Delete my account. Because it cannot be undone, one tap is not enough: you are shown exactly what is about to go, and you have to type your own email address before the final button will do anything. The server checks what you typed as well, so a stray tap cannot get through on its own.
It happens immediately, and it signs you out. There is no retention offer, no exit survey, and no attempt to talk you out of it.
Deleting your account removes:
- Your account and your email address.
- Every child profile on the account, and every mission, note and piece of feedback attached to them.
- Every illustration drawn for any of them.
- Your notification subscriptions.
- Every sign-in link ever issued to your email address — used, unused or expired.
If you cannot get into the app — a lost inbox, a changed address — email [email protected] from the address you signed up with, with “Delete my account” in the subject line, and we will do it for you within 30 days and usually the same day. Using your sign-up address is how we know it is you — we will not act on a request from an address we do not recognise.
What does not disappear, honestly
- Anonymous product counts. We keep a row for events like “a mission was viewed” or “onboarding completed”. When an account is deleted, the link to the account is severed, so what remains is a count with nothing identifying attached — no email, no name, no mission content. Those rows were never allowed to hold anything about your child in the first place.
- A picture we could not delete. Illustrations are now deleted automatically, and deliberately first: the mission row is the only place a picture’s address is recorded, so we remove the file before we remove the row that names it. If our storage provider refuses at that moment, we do not cancel your deletion — everything else goes, and the stranded file is written to our logs so a person can remove it. It holds no name and no text, it is no longer linked to anything, and it sits behind an unguessable address.
- Backups and logs. Copies may sit in our database provider’s routine backups until those backups age out, and ordinary web-server logs including IP addresses are kept for a short period by our host. Neither is used for anything except restoring the service.
- Emails already sent. We cannot reach into your inbox. Any mission email already delivered is yours to delete.
If you only want the emails to stop
You do not have to delete anything. Every Keenling email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom, and one tap stops the daily and weekly messages immediately. Your missions stay where they are, waiting whenever you open the app.
Getting a copy of your data first
Email [email protected] from your sign-up address and we will send you your family’s missions, feedback and notes within 30 days. If you want a copy, ask for it before you delete — deletion is permanent, and we cannot get it back afterwards.
Who to contact
Keenling is operated by Early Bright Global LLC. All deletion and data requests go to [email protected].
